Spatial distribution patterns of rural settlements in the multi-ethnic gathering areas, southwest China: ethnic inter-embeddedness perspective

This study examines the distribution patterns of rural settlements from a new perspective ethnic inter-embeddedness. The Shannon-Wiener Index (SWI) and Moran’s I methods are employed to identify spatial characteristics in typical multi-ethnic gathering area. results as follows: Firstly, different groups exhibit significant heterogeneity remarkable differences ethnicity region. Each group has its core settlement areas geography. Secondly, represent clustering gradient variations distribution. All aggregation except for Hui. Global Han, Yi, Tibetan, Mongolian, Qiang, Hui 0.771, 0.726, 0.646, 0.225, 0.123, 0.037, respectively.
